11 of the Best Planners for Busy Moms

My final decision for the top 3 planners was based on the size of the planner, the weight, the price, and the overall function of the planners for busy moms.

All of these planners have great benefits, but my reviews were based on how I felt they met the needs of busy moms.

Top 3 Picks: Planners for Busy Moms

#1: Vera Bradley Undated Planner

Everybody knows this name, right? It screams expensive yet beautiful. There are 5 designs available that definitely live up to the name. The price is up there, but honestly, there are very basic planners that fall in the same range.

Manufacturer Details:
Manufacturer: Lifeguard Press
Brand Name: Vera Bradley
Shipping Weight: 1.22 pounds
Product Dimensions: 8.75 x 7.25 x 1 inches

Pros:

  • The monthly calendars are undated, so you can start using at any time
  • It weekly sections are also undated and are lined
  • There are 5 beautiful cover designs to choose from, with lots of space to write in
  • Includes a double sided pocket to store extra paper, notes, pens, etc…..
  • There are tabs to quickly flip to each month
  • Has a snap in bookmark and a band that goes around the planner to keep everything in place
  • Smaller, so it can fit inside your purse to take with you
  • Includes lined note sheets, shopping lists and to-do lists
  • Has a hard cover

Cons:

  • As with most calendars, there is less space provided for Saturday and Sunday on the weekly sheets, where some people may write their weekly chore list there
  • While this is the “large” version, there is not as much space to write, because it is smaller than many other planners
  • Can’t add any extra sheets or folders to do
  • On the higher end of the planner price range

Summary

Overall, this planner would work well for moms. It includes almost everything you would need, but it may not be large enough to easily write down appointment names and dates and other commitments. However, it was hard to find many cons about this planner. It is beautiful and functional!

#2:

This planner is made specifically with moms in mind. There are two pretty options available for 18 months, so that you don’t have to worry about buying your next planner in a year (or less).

Manufacturer Details:
Manufacturer: MomAgenda
Brand Name: MomAgenda
Shipping Weight: 1.25 pounds
Product Dimensions: 7 x 1 x 9 inches

Pros:

  • The calendar boxes are lined, making it easier to write details in each
  • Each calendar month has multiple months at a view, so that you can plan in advance without flipping through out the planner
  • Large lined spaces are provided for each day; there are spaces for your own schedule, then for each child and then a space to write dinner ideas
  • Motivational quotes on each spread
  • Sheets for important phone numbers, websites and passwords
  • Extra sheets are included for more note taking

Cons:

  • There are no tabs to split up the months
  • It is on the small side, not leaving mom’s much space to write in information for the whole family

Summary

This planner provides almost everything you would need as a mom! It is good quality, sturdy and pretty. It is on the smaller side, so being able to put it in your purse and take it with you everywhere you go is a huge benefit!

However, it means that you can’t write as much on a single page. So if you prefer to see everything for a day on one page, this may not be the planner for you. Overall though, it is a great option!

#3: Amy Knapps Family Organizer

At first I wasn’t sure if this was truly a planner and had all of the aspects that we look for in a planner, or if it was truly just a place to organize family paperwork and notes. Seeing August 2020 to December 2021 gave me some hope though!

Manufacturer Details:
Manufacturer & Brand Name: Amy Knapp
Shipping Weight: 11.4 ounces
Product Dimensions: 6 x 1.5 x 8.4 inches

Pros:

  • Includes weekly and monthly calendars, weekly tear off grocery lists and menu plans, to-do lists, quotes and stickers
  • Sheets for children’s friends’ names, their parents and phone numbers, babysitter contact information, sports coaches information and so on,….
  • It is a nice size to write in, but also to put in your purse
  • There is a pocket included to put extra sheets, notes, pens, etc…
  • Includes sheets specific to mom’s goals, but also sheets for family goals

Cons:

  • The boxes on the monthly calendars aren’t very big to write in
  • It doesn’t have monthly tabs to quickly move from month to month
  • This planner is a bit heavier than some planners
  • The text print is light
  • Binding doesn’t hold well and the paper is thin

Summary

The layout of this planner is great for mom’s and out of the 11 that I have listed, covers the most of what a mom would need. However, the light print was a disappointment. The price is on the lower side for planners though, so this could be a great planner for you!

#4: MotherWord Ultimate Family Magnetic Hanging Calendar

This isn’t technically a “planner”, it’s not a book that you can hold in your hands. It is a calendar that you can put on your desk or you can buy a smaller version to put on your fridge.

Both sizes come with magnets if you want to hang them on a metal surface. I have added this to the list because I have personally used this for 10 years and it has been amazing to keep the family organized. Everyone has access to the desk, as it is in our kitchen area, and can see for themselves what is coming up for the family.

Product Dimension: 15 x 9.5 inches
Weight: 0.66 lbs

Pros:

  • The boxes for each calendar day are large, so I can easily write information about all three of my kids in a single box
  • There are areas on the top and the bottom for any additional notes
  • Each calendar includes 16 monthly pages
  • You can buy a calendar at any time and have one that begins on the month of the purchase, so there are no wasted calendar pages

Cons:

  • They are not indestructible, so if your kids spill something on it, which mine have on multiple occasions, it will soak through and you will have to buy a new one
  • I found that some of the stickers weren’t overly useful for my family, but that is really a personal choice

Summary

As you can see, I love this calendar for keeping track of everything for my family.  Buying this in addition to a planner is a great idea, so that you have your own personal planner to keep track of everything, but you also have the desktop calendar for the family to use.

I would strongly suggest keeping the information written somewhere else as well, so that if your kids wreck one, you can transfer all of the data back onto your calendar. I also personally record any birthdays in my phone calendar, as those dates remain the same from year to year. Then when I get a new calendar, I can just write those dates onto my new calendar.

Some people prefer to put everything in their phone calendar and not in a planner/printed calendar, but I personally still like to see everything written in one place in front of me on a desk. Then I know I haven’t missed anything.

#5: Mom’s Weekly Planner – Peter Pauper

This 18 month calendar is by Peter Pauper, a name that I have heard many times throughout my planner search. I was excited to see that the current planner is from July 2020 to December 2021 so that it could be fully used.

Manufacturer Details:
Manufacturer & Brand Name: Peter Pauper Press
Shipping Weight: 1.7 lbs
Product Dimensions: 8.3 x 0.8 x 10.1 inches

Pros:

  • Weekly spread includes 5 columns (for a family of 5)
  • Sheet to write down birthdays, anniversaries and other important dates
  • Tear out to-do lists
  • Can lie flat or fold back on itself, sometimes makes it easier to write in
  • There is a pocket on the back cover for extra paper, pens, etc…
  • It is a nice size to write in, may be on the edge of too big to take in your purse

Cons:

  • If you have more than 5 people in your family, the weekly spread won’t work as well
  • It does not have a hard cover
  • Not many styles to choose from
  • Doesn’t have monthly tabs

Summary

This planner would work well for most moms. It has lots of space to write down important dates and additional notes. In my research I can see that Peter Pauper changed the design of these planners in 2019, and the new style isn’t as popular as the old style.

However, the detail on the inside hasn’t changed. It is a great size and fits well for my family. If you have a family of more than 5 people, the pages split out by family members won’t be overly effective and I would advise against this planner for anybody in that situation.

#6: Tri-Coastal Design Planners

The Tri-Coastal Design planner is truly all encompassing when it comes to creating a schedule around any lifestyle. They had almost all bases covered with the pages included.  You have the option of choosing a 12 month planner or an 18 month planner.

The current 18 month planner covers from January 2020 to June 2021, so you can still get 12 months out of the 18 month planner!

The planner is hardcover, which makes it durable and easy to write notes anywhere. There are also 3 sticker sheets included.

Manufacturer Details:

Manufacturer & Brand Name: Tri-Coastal Design

18 month calendar specs:
Shipping Weight: 2.35 pounds
Package Dimensions: 9.2 x 8.7 x 1.5 inches

12 months calendar specs:
Shipping Weight: 1.92 lbs
Package Dimensions: 9.37 x 8.74 x 1.26 inches

Pros:

  • There are 7 cover designs to choose from
  • The pages provide plenty of space to write
  • It is medium sized
  • There is an elastic strap that holds the pages together when not in use.
  • The design options for the cover are beautiful!
  • Pens/markers don’t bleed through the paper
  • There are monthly tabs to easily flip between different months
  • The 12 month planner comes with lots of extra sheets at the end to take notes
  • There is a to-do list full sheet at the beginning of each month to plan your next month out
  • There are sheets side by side for the full week, making it easier to see your week at a glance
  • Very affordable

Cons:

  • It doesn’t come with a folder to hold loose papers or pens, calculator, etc….
  • Depending on which planner design you choose, the stickers may not match what you would want, so it’s worth looking into what stickers come with the planner before purchasing
  • The 18 month planner comes with less sheets for notes at the end.
  • Sometimes the back cover comes out of the spiral
  • It is heavier than many planners, but that is because it includes a lot of extra useful pages
  • Due to the weight and size, it is not easy to put in a bag to carry around with you
  • You can’t add sheets or folders to the planner

Summary

This planner would be great for using at home and it is nice that you can choose a 12 month or 18 month planner. If you are wanting a planner that you can take everywhere with you, this won’t work.

#7: Artfan

Right off the bat, I loved the colour of this planner and having 18 months is great! There are other colours to choose from as well.

The planners go from January 2020 to June 2021 OR July 2020 to December 2021. I personally love this option because with young kids in the house, sometimes my planners/calendars get spilled on or damaged and I have to replace them. So I am looking for something that I can replace throughout the year without wasting half of the planner and that is cost-effective.

Manufacturer Details:
Manufacturer & Brand Name: Artfan
Shipping Weight: 12 ounces
Package Dimensions: 9 x 11.25 x 0.2 inches

Pros:

  • 18 months, can be purchased for January or July starting month
  • Has tabs for each month, making it easy to flip to different months
  • The planner is the same size as a regular sheet of paper
  • There are sheets included for passwords, emergency information, contact information, these sheets can be used not only for your own passwords, friends, etc…. But also your kids!
  • Nice colour options
  • It is a great value
  • There is a pocket in the back to hold extra sheets, pens, etc..
  • Boxes for each day on the monthly calendars are a nice size for writing in details

Cons:

  • There is nothing unique about the pages, they are pretty standard
  • Doesn’t provide weekly sheets
  • Not enough pages provided for notes
  • The pages aren’t very thick
  • Some customers received planners that were used or not the full 18 months, so buyer beware

Summary

This planner would be great for somebody to keep track of their own appointments and passwords, but would not be as handy for a busy mom to keep track of information regarding kids activities, appointments and general note taking.

#8: The Simply Whole Moms Planner

This planner was made specifically for moms, so I had high hopes that it would check off everything that a mom could want in a planner. This is not an 18 month planner though, so that is a downside for me.

Manufacturer Details:
Manufacturer & Brand Name: Simply Whole Moms
Shipping Weight: 14.7 ounces
Product Dimensions: 8 x 0.4 x 10 inches

Pros:

  • This is the most cost effective planner out of the bunch that I reviewed
  • It is a nice size for a planner
  • There are extra sheets included such as a cleaning lists, goals pages, extra sheets to write your notes on, meal planning, etc….
  • Pretty cover

Cons:

  • Not the best quality
  • It has a soft cover, so you would have to put it on a flat surface to write in
  • Despite being a mom planner, there isn’t a whole lot related to the kids

Summary

As a planner that is specifically made for moms, this one didn’t really meet my requirements. It is nice that there are pages for planning out your own schedule, your own habits and your own goals, because at the end of the day, you are important too!

However, there wasn’t enough space to add in kids activities and kids appointments. You can’t beat the price though! So if price is the main motivator for you, then this planner could likely be modified to fit most of your needs. Otherwise, there are better planners for busy moms.

#9: bloom daily planners

At first glance, this planner is pretty and seems sturdy. There are two design options, which are both nice. It is a nice size to take along with you.

One thing that really jumped out at me was the colouring pages! While these could be for an adult to colour, I think this would be great if you are stuck in a waiting room with your child.

You can just pull out your planner and some crayons and your child is entertained! However, the price is high for the style of planner that it is.

Manufacturer Details:
Manufacturer: Bloom daily planners
Brand Name: Bloom daily planners
Shipping Weight: 1.5 pounds
Product Dimensions: 9 x 0.5 x 11 inches

Pros:

  • Pretty designs
  • Nice size to bring along with you
  • It includes pages for each month, for each week, as well as a notes section, 27 sheets of sketch paper, 9 dot grid pages and 18 colouring book pages!
  • There is a pocket in the back to store extra paper, pens, etc….
  • It includes pages for personal goal setting / tracking pages, vision board, password pages
  • It is undated, so you are not wasting months if you happen to buy at any other time than the beginning of the year

Cons:

  • The sheets are thin
  • The tabs for the months aren’t any thicker than the paper, not sturdy
  • It’s expensive for a basic planner
  • Other sizes aren’t available at the moment

Summary

Overall this planner is decent, and could work fine for moms.  However, the one thing that I was so excited about with this planner was that it included colouring pages for keeping the kids entertained.

With the sheets being so thin, they will rip easily, which could turn into kids screaming and that doesn’t seem worth it.  So that’s why it is so low on my list.

#10: Clever Fox Planner (Premium Edition – Luxurious Weekly & Monthly Planner)

I have heard many good reviews about this planner, so I was very excited to finally review it. The high price tag has made me shy away from this planner for some time but if it includes everything you need, it may be worth the price. They are beautiful and soft to hold onto.

Manufacturer Details:
Manufacturer & Brand Name: Clever Fox
Shipping Weight: 2.16 pounds
Product Dimensions: 10.08 x 7.32 x 1.65 inches

Pros:

  • The cover is made of leather
  • There are 6 different colour covers to choose from, the rose gold has a shine to it
  • It has a very neutral feel on the inside, meaning that not only moms would enjoy this, dads would as well!
  • Undated calendar, so you can begin using it whenever you want
  • Includes a spot to hold your pen
  • Comes with 6 sheets of stickers
  • If you are not happy with the planner, they will either exchange or refund your planner
  • There is an inner pocket to hold extra paper, notes, etc…

Cons:

  • This planner is only for 12 months
  • Comes with a premium gift box, which most people likely wouldn’t use, but adds to the high cost
  • It is on the small side
  • The spaces for daily notes are not very big
  • While the personal goal settings, etc….  are nice to have, this may not be as practical for a busy mom
  • Not as sturdy as it should be for this price range

Summary

While I wanted to love this planner, I don’t feel that it would be very effective for a busy mom. It may be good for somebody who is only planning out their own schedule and looking for something to boost their productivity and track their habits to see if they are meeting their goals.

It is a very pretty planner and would fit well inside your purse, but it’s just not a great planner for busy moms and is on the higher end of the price range for planners.

#11: Create 365 Planner Dream Seeker (Happy Planner)

The Big Happy Planner is what I am currently using, which is the same as the Create 365 Planner. I bought it because I wanted a big planner to keep at home and also have some uplifting quotes and places for self reflection.

This planner is a nice option because there are many add on packages that can be purchased to make the planner into exactly what you want. It is more expensive than other options though, with just the base planner.

Also, it is large, so can’t easily be taken with you, and the softcover means you basically have to sit at a desk to use it.

Manufacturer Details:
Manufacturer: Create 365
Brand Name: The Happy Planner
Shipping Weight: 1.72 pounds
Package Dimensions: 11.46 x 10.12 x 1.18 inches

Pros:

  • For home use, the large size is nice for being able to write everything you need it
  • There are extra pages and folders you can buy to put into the planner
  • The cover and disc binding can be reused, and you can buy just the sheets for the next year and pop them right onto the disc binding
  • There are other Happy Planner options that are smaller and may be worth looking into

Cons:

  • It only includes 12 months
  • The price can add up quickly with the additional bundles
  • It is large with a soft cover, so it can’t just be taken along with you
  • When ordering extra sheets online, it is easy to order the wrong size for your specific planner, as the descriptions don’t make it obvious what you are purchasing

Summary

Overall, it is a nice planner with lots of space to write important details down. It provides many options to personalize the planner and add any other sheets you may want.

There are different sizes so that you can buy the size that works best for your needs, however, the sizes are not immediately obvious when looking into these planners online.

I personally won’t be purchasing this planner next year, because there are better options, where everything is already included, and for a fraction of the cost.

Conclusion

I hope you have found this post helpful in choosing your next planner!

There are other planners for busy moms out there, but I chose 11 that I thought would fit any mother’s lifestyle well. I truly love planners that I can physically write in and add details that make it my own personalized planner.
